Remake Yves Saint Laurent YSL COLLEGE BAG Online Store Quick Tips

Alright, so I’ve been messing around with this idea of remaking the YSL COLLEGE BAG, you know, the one they sell online. It all started when I saw one of those bags in a store. They call it “quilted,” but it honestly just looks like a regular bag with a bunch of lines sewn on it. Reminded me of the quilts my grandma used to make, no joke.

First, I got online and looked up a bunch of these bags. There are a ton of them out there, and they ain’t cheap! But I figured, why not try to make my own? I ain’t no fancy designer, but I’m pretty handy with a needle and thread.

Materials

  • So, I gathered my materials. I found some sturdy fabric that looked similar to the original bag.
  • I also needed some lining material, a zipper, and some metal hardware for the chain and the logo.

The first step was to cut out the fabric. I made a rough pattern based on the pictures I saw online. Then I carefully cut out the main pieces of the bag, the lining, and the pieces for the pockets. It took me a while, but I think I did a decent job.

Next, I started sewing. This was the fun part, but also the most time-consuming. I sewed the main pieces together, then added the lining and the pockets. I even managed to sew those “quilted” lines on the front flap, just like the real thing. I used a regular sewing machine, nothing fancy.

The Logo

  • The YSL logo was a bit tricky. I couldn’t just sew that on.
  • I ended up finding a similar-looking metal piece online and attached it to the front flap. It’s not exactly the same, but it gives the same vibe.

Finally, I added the chain strap. This was pretty easy, I just attached the hardware to the bag and threaded the chain through. And voila, my homemade YSL COLLEGE BAG was complete!

It’s not perfect, of course. There are a few imperfections here and there, but overall, I’m pretty proud of it. It’s a decent-looking bag, and it didn’t cost me an arm and a leg. Plus, it was a fun project to work on. Maybe I’ll try making other designer bags in the future. Who knows?

I know some folks search for these YSL bags online, and they even look for used ones to save some money. I read somewhere that the real ones have these date codes inside, near the zipper. Mine doesn’t have that, obviously. But hey, it’s a good-looking bag nonetheless!

So, that’s my little adventure in remaking a designer bag. It was a fun experiment, and I learned a lot along the way. Maybe I should start selling these, haha! Just kidding… unless?
