Alright, so, I got this wild idea to try and make my own version of the Rolex GMT-Master II. You know, the one everyone’s crazy about, with that red and blue “Pepsi” bezel. It’s a classic, right? But man, that price tag is just insane! So I thought, why not give it a shot myself?
First off, I started looking around, seeing what others have done. There’s a lot of talk about these watches online, especially about the bezel. Some folks are really into the details, like how the paint looks and if it’s the same as the real deal. I even saw people talking about some secret details that only show up under UV light. I knew I gotta check that out later.
Gathering the Parts
Next, I started gathering the stuff I needed. This was a bit of a scavenger hunt. I needed to find parts that looked the part. The bezel was the trickiest part. I ended up finding a supplier online that had a bunch of watch parts. Not sure if he was legit, but I’m taking the chance.
Putting It Together
Once I had all the pieces, I started putting the watch together. Let me tell you, it wasn’t easy. It’s like a puzzle, but with tiny, super delicate parts. I had to be super careful not to mess anything up. It took a lot of patience, and a few tries, but I finally got it assembled.
The UV Light Test
Remember that UV light thing I mentioned? Well, I got myself a UV flashlight and shined it on the watch. It was pretty cool to see if I could find the same secret marks the original Rolex has. Honestly, I didn’t see much. Maybe I just used the wrong kind of UV light? I’ll have to investigate this later.
The Final Result
After all that work, I finally had my own “Pepsi” GMT-Master II. It’s not perfect, of course. It doesn’t have that super high-end feel of a real Rolex. But you know what? It looks pretty darn good! And it tells the time, which is the main thing, right?

- Did I have fun making it? Absolutely!
- Would I do it again? Maybe. It was a lot of work, but it was a pretty cool project.
