They say it’s good to have one. Like, it’s worth somethin’. Maybe it is, maybe it ain’t. But if you want one, you gotta be careful where you get it. This Speedmaster Date, you don’t want no fake one.
Them Omega watches, they ain’t cheap, you know? And if you ain’t careful, you might end up with a dud. Some folks, they try to sell you fake ones. Shiny and pretty, but not the real deal. Like buyin’ a pig in a poke, you don’t know what you’re gettin’.
So, if you’re gonna get yourself one of these Omega Speedmaster Date things, you best go to the right place. They got them stores, fancy stores, where they sell the real ones. They say go to a Omega Boutique, sound fancy. Or some place that’s, what they call it, “authorized”? Yeah, that’s it. Authorized. Authorized Omega retailer. If they ain’t authorized, then maybe you just walk away. They also told you to buy from a foreign distributor. It seems they are right.
These watches got numbers on ’em. Serial numbers, they call ’em. You can call up Omega, the company, I guess, and see if that number is good. If that number ain’t right, then somethin’s fishy. Better watch out.
I heard some folks, they buy these watches as an investment. Like puttin’ money in the bank, ‘cept it’s on your wrist. They say these Speedmaster things, some of ’em, they go up in price. Like, they’re worth more later on. Don’t ask me how that works. If they only made a few, then they’re special. Special means worth more. I don’t need no watch to tell me what time it is. But some folks, they like that, I guess.

Don’t get fooled by the fake.
There’s this one, the Speedmaster Date, it’s got the date on it. Like, the number of the day. Handy, I suppose, if you forget what day it is. But you gotta wind it up, I think. Or maybe it’s got a battery. I don’t know. It’s all too much for me.
Now, some people, they buy old ones, vintage, you know? Like them old cars, some folks like them old watches. They say the old Omega Speedmaster is good to buy. I hear people ask which vintage one to buy a lot. A lot.
If you got a card with your watch, it’s probably from a jeweler. You can call ’em up, ask about the Speedmaster, see if it’s the real deal. If they sold it on that date. Most importantly, be careful who you deal with, or you might get burned.
If you buy a Omega watch from some place that ain’t right, it might be busted. Or worse, a fake! And then you can’t get no warranty. Warranty is like a promise, I reckon. A promise that they’ll fix it if it breaks. But if you buy it from the wrong place, ain’t nobody gonna help you.
I heard on the news, there was a store, Costco, they was sellin’ these Omega watches. And Omega, they got all mad. Said they weren’t supposed to be sellin’ ’em. But the judges, the big shots in the black robes, they said Costco could sell ’em. So, I guess it’s okay to buy ’em there, too. They are from a foreign place. But I don’t know. Maybe you just stick to the Omega store, just to be safe.
It’s a lot of fuss over a watch, if you ask me. But these Omega Speedmaster Date watches, they’re somethin’ else, I guess. Just be careful out there. Don’t get tricked. And if you’re gonna spend your money on one of these things, make sure you’re gettin’ the real deal. You don’t want no fake Omega. You want the real thing.
The real Omega Speedmaster Date, yeah, that’s what you want. Or so they tell me. It is a good thing to buy, I guess. Just don’t ask me to explain it all. I just know what I hear. And I hear these watches are somethin’ special.
